Osun state government on Wednesday took delivery of two sophisticated Dual-Fire Fighting vehicles from the federal government. The state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola while receiving the equipment said it would complement the ones purchased by his government to all fire stations in the state. According to him, the fire-fighting equipment would boost response to emergencies during fire disaster. The governor said with the gesture, the federal government has demonstrated its commitment to support the efforts of states in ensuring the security of lives and properties. The Controller-General , Federal Fire Service, Ibrahim Liman said, the federal fire service was struggling with dilapidated and obsolete equipment before the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. According to him, there were only 23 fire fighting equipment out of which only two were working. According to him, the federal government in a bid to rejuvenate the service, approved the purchase of 93 fire tenders, 66 of which have been delivered. This, he said, informed the creation of 10 additional zones including Zone-L which comprises, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti. Liman then tasked members of the public to cooperate with the service by giving timely information to be able to response quickly to emergencies. He said the complaints about the late arrival of fire service officials to scene of Fire disaster has always been due to delay in information.
